My name is Kim Cameron and I am the lead singer/songwriter for the Washington DC based Side FX band.
My journey to my career as a performer and songwriter has been a long, bumpy one.
I have always had a passion for music. Living in southern California, I had access to everything in the arts-whether that was a marching band, theatre, choir, even a rock band. While my true love was music, I found myself pursuing a career in the corporate world in an effort to pay my bills from college. After years of long hours (and I mean long), weekends, holidays, late nights; I found few rewards but a lot of glass ceilings.
So, a bit frustrated with what I had compromised, I turned back to my true passion and took a deep look at what drives me, what makes me happy, what fulfills my soul and it was not living a corporate working life. I was also emotionally challenged by my brother-in-laws kidney cancer, the two events were like bolts of lightning that changed my life forever. I discovered that life is fragile.
Today, I have two albums already under my belt (Contradictions and Turning Point), an 19 State Tour completed, an outstanding band and my own publishing company.
Yes, I finally feel complete.
So many people have asked me what I like, what I do not like, so I decided to sit down and really think about those questions. It took me some time, but likes and dislikes can very much summarize a person's personality. So here goes:

The other part of a person is what they make themselves as they grow up. For me, my music is an image of me. I wanted to create stories ---stories about all the people I love or the people who touched me in some way; stories that others can find themselves in. My story can be their story. I wanted for us to share it together.
